New J. Crew (and Why I'm Still Shopping There)

J. Crew has taken a few hits lately, with the departure of Jenna Lyons, Chief Mickey Drexler stepping down, and overall sentiment that the brand is no longer relevant. J. Crew holds a special place for me, as it's one of the few retailers that caters to both me and my mom. I have such fond memories of afternoons spent at South Coast Plaza near where I grew up, us both sipping our lattes and browsing J. Crew, and now that my parents live in Palm Desert we pop into the J. Crew on El Paseo nearly every time I visit. So I'll still be supporting the brand and rooting for them, starting with some of the picks below.

My husband might say I have too many tops like this in my closet, but the bright green of this Cold Shoulder Top caught my eye.

J. Crew blazers are my big-meeting go-to, and the Campbell Blazer in Liberty Poppy & Daisy Floral is so fun for summer (and all year in California, really).

The length of this Off-the-Shoulder Ruffle Dress makes it a bit dressier than other similar styles in my closet, but I think it could easily work as a cover-up.

And here’s what I typically look for at J. Crew: easy tops that I can dress up for work or dress down for the weekend, that hover around $100. Enter: the Ruffle Top in Chambray and Tipped Ruffle in Stripe

What about you? Do you still shop at J. Crew?
