Oh, Tuscany

My parents in Lake Como on their honeymoon 40 years ago.
The whole group (minus the kids) on the night of our cooking class.
Happy Henry doing what makes him happiest - eating!
Day trip to classic Italian beach town, Viareggio.
 San Gimignano from above.
 Wine tasting at Montefili.
Getting lost and not caring while driving around Tuscany.
 Nightly routine.

I'm back sharing some final photos from our dream of a trip to Italy last month. Our house was in the boonies (in the best way possible) but the closest town was San Donato or Castellini. We enjoyed our morning coffee and nightly glass of wine at the house, and typically left once a day in smaller groups to go exploring.

San Donato had a great butcher and we had an amazing lunch at La Toppa in town - the owner is a classic Italian character. One of our favorite meals during the trip was at a restaurant called Uscio e Bottega, a teeny tiny spot up the hill from our house next to a beautiful church. We had one of our best dinners at Osteria Alla Piazza, near Panzano (another great town with another famous butcher) and a great casual spot is Rostericceria Il Re Gallo in Castellini. The BEST pizza I've ever had is at Pizza Pie in Radda.

Radda is definitely our favorite little town since we honeymooned here, but it was fun to go into the bigger ones like San Gimignano and Greve. We also bopped around and visited a few wineries, including MontefiliThe father of the owner of Uscio e Bottega owns a winery that's right up the road, with no sign. We eventually found it and picked up wine, olive oil, and honey to bring home.
