What To Say

This post written by Joanna of Cup of Jo's sister Lucy, who lost her husband earlier this year was so beautiful. It talks about what to say when someone is grieving and really struck a chord with me. Over the past three years, my family lost my cousin Matthew and both of my grandmother's. As hard as these deaths were on me, I struggled with the right thing to say to my aunt and uncle and my parents. Just a few months ago my brother had to put down his dog and again, I knew how hard it was but I felt like I couldn't find the right words. This post is a reminder that nothing is the wrong thing to say and that speaking about the person (or pet) they lost won't "remind them" of their loss because it's always on their mind anyway.

Sorry for the downer Thursday post, but food for thought.
