Work - Home

5/07/2015

Happy Thursday, friends! How are your weeks going? I just returned yesterday from a quick trip to L.A. It was good to reconnect with my co-workers, and enjoy margaritas in an outdoor garden, even if it was a tad chilly (I am a certified wimp when it comes to cool weather now).

Working from home is such an ideal situation for me, since it allows me to manage my own time, work when it's convenient (naptimes and evenings) and the big bonus: I get to stay home with my kids. Also I really do enjoy my job, which sometimes makes it feel like I'm cheating. I get to work from home and it's an awesome gig? Don't get me wrong, being a mom and managing a job, even if it's part-time and from home is no particular cake walk. It can be overwhelming and exhausting and completely frustrating. And sometimes I just miss being in an office. The silly banter, the weird inside jokes, pizza days, bagel days, doughnut days (gosh I love carbs)...and frequently I feel like I'm missing out on the social aspect of having a job.

So, this week was nice to see my co-workers faces', rather than just hear their voices on a conference call, or read what they have to say over an email. I felt like a real live working person, going to social events!! Conversing over grown-up drinks in real glasses (not sippy cups). Past 8pm!! I am living wild you guys.

Do you work from home or in an office? What do you like or dislike about your working situation? I'd love to hear!

Oh man, I work in an open office, which can be great for collaborating but sometimes a huge productivity hinderance! I want to work from home more, but it can be difficult to justify to my boss since I live the closest to the office. But sometimes I just feel much more productive in my own environment!
