I first read about Blue Apron on A CUP OF JO and mentioned it to my husband, who gifted me a subscription for Valentine's Day. The meal subscription service delivers a box with fresh ingredients for three meals every week. You can pick your preferences (if you don't eat red meat for example) and they send everything in its own packet, which makes the cooking process much more streamlined.
The meals we made (top to bottom):
Short Rib Burgers on Pretzel Buns with Hoppy Cheddar Sauce & Roasted Sweet Potato Rounds
Latin-Spiced Shrimp in Butter Lettuce Cups with Red Quinoa & Poblano, Jicama and Orange Salad
Turkey Cutlets with Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Broccoli & Caper Sauce
While the meals themselves don't seem that revolutionary, it's the extras that make everything much more restaurant-like than your typical home-cooked meal. The hoppy cheddar sauce for the burgers, the poblano, jicama and orange salad, and the caper sauce all took these recipes to a different level.
