Beignets for Breakfast

2/13/2014

New Orleans is one of my favorite spots in the U.S. I have ever visited, and a big part of that is the food. Oh, the food. On our trip a few years ago, we visited the famous Cafe Du Monde for beignets and have been talking about them ever since. I was gifted a box of Cafe Du Monde's beignet mix awhile ago, and this weekend we finally made the French doughnuts at home. While it wasn't quite the same as enjoying them in NOLA, it was pretty darn close.

See step-by-step photos, after the jump.

Oh yum yum yum! I love beignets! So so yummy! My friend even got me a t-shirt when she lived in New Orleans that says "Beign-Yay!" haha! Definitely going to have to try and make them at home ASAP!

My best friend brought me that mix on the last week before I got married. My maiden name sounds very close to Beignets (It's Binai ,pronounced Bin-ay). I totally forgot I had them until I saw this post. I think I am going to whip them up over the three day weekend!
