What Are You Reading?

1/29/2014

Admittedly, I barely have time to sit and read. See this post. But, it's one of my very favorite things. I figure once I'm sleeping consistently again, I'll stop falling on my face during dinner. Above are some of my favorites as well as a couple I'm reading (trying to read now). It seems like everyone is talking about The Goldfinch, so I had to order it. I'm on page 10, but I'm liking it so far! I just ordered Brain on Fire for our February bookclub. It sounds crazy. What an experience. What's on your bookshelf these days?

I read The Goldfinch over Christmas - can't say it's one of my favourites, but it was definitely like nothing I've read before. The Luminaries & The People of the Book are up next on my reading list :)

I read "Brain On Fire," and it was really good! Currently I'm reading "Mastering the Art of French Eating." So far so good!

You read my mind. I actually want to pick up a new book. I'm reading "The Body Book" by Cameron Diaz. I'm curious about Brain On Fire.

"I feel bad about my neck" cracked me up! I've been meaning to read the Goldfinch–John's mama was raving about it at Christmas, and I'm dying to know what you think of it!

I just got the tao of martha today. It's one woman's quest to live like martha stewart for one year. I'm not sure I have that kind of strict commitment. I'm hoping the book is good for a laugh ;)

I just finished The Goldfinch and I might be the only person to go against the grain and say it was just 'good.' It wasn't exceptional, it went on for far too long, and it could have been told in about 400 pages instead of 775. I'm also reading The Circle by Dave Eggars, The Paris Wife by Paula McLain, and am super close to the end of an insider account of smuggling of ancient artifacts that went on at Sotheby's in the 1990s. So good! xo

i just finished the goldfinch and i am with the grain and loved it. i think it could have been maybe 700 pages long instead of 775. the end was my least favorite part just because it did kind of go on and on. but other than while i was reading it it could have been 7000 pages, i loved it so much.

now i am trying to decide what to read next. i still have to finish the 5th game of thrones, but ugh. i have the history of love but haven't read it yet. i know. i know. and i LOVE erik larson but i haven't read his newest one. i really need to get that. brain on fire looks really good.

I just ordered The Goldfinch, too (and am trying not to be intimidated about its nearly 800 pages)! Right now I'm finishing Half the Sky (it's been on my Kindle "bookshelf" for years but never got to it). Terrifying, inspiring, a must-read.
