La vie est faite de petits bonheurs

1/06/2014

I'm sure you're wondering if Alexa & I have moved to France without telling you, with all of the French popping up on the blog today. Sadly, I'm not writing this from Paris (sigh), but I was inspired by Alexa's post this morning. I don't normally do resolutions in the traditional sense, but I do like to have a saying in mind when going into the new year.

For 2014, it's "La via est fait de petits bonheurs," which translates to "life is full of little pleasures."

2013 was a big year, so when life settled down I found that I was always thinking about the next thing, always pushing myself to work harder, plan our next trip, even plan our next free weekend. This has helped me in my career and to stay connected to family and friends, but it doesn't help me stay in the moment.

So this year, I want to try to enjoy the little pleasures. The view from my morning walk with our dog (pictured above). A cold glass of wine with dinner cooked by my husband. A really good song that comes on the radio during my commute. Slipping into bed the day we put on fresh sheets. Devouring a new issue of Vogue with my Saturday coffee.

I'd love you to add to this list. What is one of life's little pleasures for you?

Beautiful photos..and yes. I love that. Last year (and want to continue it this year!), my goal was to be very present, to enjoy the little things in life. And it is amazing all the beauty that is right under my nose. A fresh cup of coffee, a quiet house with only my dogs snoring, the sound of the wind, good wine (since I am 33 weeks pregnant, I can honestly say I think I have forgotten what that is like...and I can't wait to remember! lol).

Great resolution! There are a million things I need to do, but I want to also focus on the enjoying the moment now too.

Kirby, I think enjoying the small moments in life is such an admirable resolution. I'm adding it to my non-list :) of things I want to do this year. Wishing you all the best in 2014!

Yes the little pleasures are what is important.. that leisurely time to read.. or a big fluffy cappuccino.. or buttery croissant . or for me.. my little pleasure is when my daughter sleeps in and I get more sleep.. woohoo :)

Such a great idea, as little pleasures are what make up a full and happy life. One of my favorites is a morning cuddle with my youngest. It usually only lasts just a few minutes but puts a smile on my face to start my day.

These are such beautiful and serene photos. Little pleasures are key, aren't they? I need to focus on that more. Thanks for the reminder. XO
