Vivre La Vie: Live life in your way.

If I am to be honest, there are many things in my life that are challenging right now. Being a parent tests my strength (both mentally and physically every day) and at the end of (nearly) every day I sit in some dizzying fog where my ears ring in the sudden quietness of the house. And I wonder. How do I it? Mothering. Working. Creating. Nurturing. Loving. Living. I think it's a question that every mom asks at some point. Or every day. Or every hour. Or every minute. I don't have any answers (I rarely do really, a student of journalism always has the questions). But, I do know that I can shape how I live my life. Here are a few things I'm going to keep in mind for 2014.

Stress Less I say this every year, but really: This is the stress-free year.
Be Present I spend too much time thinking about the past and the future.
Work Hard But Know When To Quit This is a tough one for me because I'm a perfectionist, but I think it's really important, especially as a mom.
Kiss Baby's Leg Rolls Seriously. Because I'm going to blink and those chubby little baby legs are going to belong to a teenager.

So my mantra for this year is Vivre La Vie. My life to live.

Do you have a new mantra for 2014? I'd love to hear.

The never ending challenge! I could so relate to you post. I am SO excited that we'll be welcoming another baby in May, but if I am to be honest, I am also a bit scared thinking about how it is going to impact every single aspect of my life. It's so hard to find the right balance, and not feel like you're spreading yourself too thin! Good luck on all of these goals, no doubt you can do it ;)

That is such a great mantra to live by! Absolutely love it. And I can spread myself thin quickly...it is one thing I am trying not to do this year. Streamline. :)

Happy New Year! What a great mantra, mine is starting with a clean slate forget the past, don't worry about the future and like you, be present. Wishes for a stress free year for you:)

Love this. I agree with everything you say here. I have gotten better about being in the present. Especially when I'm with my daughter because like they say....the days are long but the years are short. Gosh, these years are so special I want to cherish every second. You have the right attitude and the right awareness. 2014 will be wonderful!

i absolutely agree with everything you say here, especially about being present. i am always thinking about whats next which makes it harder to enjoy the little things. oh, and kissing the leg rolls sounds pretty perfect too :)

You could have plucked some of these resolutions from my own list, girl. Stress less and be present are two big ones. And if I had a baby of my own I would spend all my time trying to eat their cheeks or fat rolls or devour their tiny head. I love babies! xo

I am a proud aunt of 9 nieces and nephews and have seen my sisters go through what you are. I know it's never easy but time does pass and soon you will be out of the rough spots. Thinking of you!

My mantra for 2014 is to take chances and don't let fear get in the way of things!

it does go so fast with those babes!! my mantra this year is to live intentionally. to try not to do things blindly or robotically or simply react but to have intention. when i am thirsty to have intention in what i choose to drink. when i need to work, have intention in what i choose to work on. it's kind of general and i am hoping it's like 100 goals in one ;)

My mantra? Gosh. I don't know. I'm just enjoying life as I always do. It's served me well so far.

Love that! I think this year my motto will be "Finish what you start." Everything will be finished this year. Wedding, marathon. It'll all get done :)

I love your resolution Alexa! I guess mine is just being/doing and not worrying about the rest of it, ha! Sounds easy but so isn't. To me, you always seem to be doing such a good job of enjoying life, even when it's hectic.

I love your mantra for the new year, Alexa. The "be present" part is so important, something I've been working on. I hope your year is off to a wonderful start!
