Fall Decor

10/23/2013

Confession: I am not a "change the decor seasonally/for holidays" type of person. I put up my share of Christmas bling, but that's honestly about it. The fact of the matter is, I find a lot of it kind of cheesy. Also it's time consuming. And once you put it up, it seems like you're just taking it right back down. Nevertheless, it's fall (my favorite season), so it seems practical to pretty up some pumpkins and scatter them about.

I've also noticed that Matt's favorite decor style (which is creepy/dark/Gothic...Lord help me when we buy our first house and have to decorate), kind of lends itself to Halloween decor. The gargoyle for instance lives permanently on our mantle. I kind of have a crush on him. He looks thoughtful, doesn't he?

The candle lantern is also a permanent fixture, but I moved it outside so we could enjoy it in the evenings. What about you? Do you like decorating for fall?

We add a pumpkin or two, but I'm not big on seasonal d├ęcor either–we just don't have room to store festive wreaths or skull votives!

I agree, I usually don't do holiday or seasonal decorating because I find a lot of it a little tacky and it's time consuming, plus I'm not very crafty. But I love the creative decorations that I've seen on a lot of blogs, and of course I love my little Christmas tree with the lovely lights!

Oh gosh I'm not either. My mom is though and will bring me decorations all the time. And...they are all in my garage. Haha I really do want to decorate some pumpkins for Halloween but I can't do it until next week bc we have crazy fat squirrels outside and they will eat them before next Thursday. xoxo

Love that lantern! That's about as much as I ever want in the way of seasonal decor too :)

I adore fall but I keep the decorating to a minimum with a few stained glass pumpkin candleholders + fresh pumpkins.

I'm not a huge fan of fall decorating either. That gargoyle is so cute; I see why you keep him out year round!

I am the same way! We have two small pumpkins in front of our house and a few small ones in the kitchen and that is it. I choose to focus on Christmas. glad I'm not alone!

HAHA I am so the same way. I have added glitter to my scattered pumpkins this year tho. I know, I am totally stepping it up.

I am with you on the decor--I actually want to do it--but somehow it never actually happens. lol. Your gargoyle does look thoughtful---haha--and kind of happy for a gargoyle. lol

Still don't have pumpkins. lol...hoping to get some this weekend!

This is the first year I added pumpkins to my interior decor. My toddler loves having seasonal decorations up, she just gets so excited. So it's prompted me to do more for her enjoyment.

A mini pumpkin or two is as close as I get to decorating for the season. Unless you count scented soaps? In which case I'm totally on board :) Love that candle holder. xo

So true!! I bought a skeleton hand candy bowl this year, and that's "going all out" for us :-) Love your little gargoyle!

i am with you. i have a lot of halloween decorations - i have no idea how that happened! but the thought of getting them all out and putting more stuff in my house doesn't appeal to me. especially when christmas is right around the corner. i just save it all up for christmastime decorating.

I love the little touches of fall you have! I am like you though and I am not a huge fall decorator... but come Christmas time I am so into it!
