We left for Carmel on September 26, when it was still Indian Summer, but we arrived home from our honeymoon on October 11 to fall! The change of seasons are more subtle here in southern California, but this year it was more noticeable than ever to me. There's no better way to beat wedding blues (did any of you experience this? it was all perfect but I'm sad it's over!) than by digging out my sweaters and boots and looking up some fall recipes. I haven't even had my first pumpkin spice latte yet!
Here are a few things on my fall to-do list before it's time for the holidays:
Make something with pumpkin. I had this amazing pumpkin gnocchi in Radda that I'm hoping to recreate at home.
Find boots for my mom. Every year she says she's going to get a pair and doesn't. This year we are going boot shopping!
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, start writing down things I'm thankful for. Today, it's that we live so close to the ocean that I can walk our dog right beside it. I grumble about early morning walks but really can't complain.
More cooking: make something with apples. From Julian. Maybe after a day trip to Julian that I always say I'm going to take but never do.
Purge my closet, donate old items, and make a list of what I actually need for fall and winter.
Order photos from spring and summer and switch out all of our picture frames and the photos on our fridge.
What about you?
