Friday FunDay

8/16/2013

Wow. What a week. My mom left last Saturday after being here for a week, so that was a rough transition. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday my brother, sister in-law and their three kids stayed with us, which was amazing having them here...but we were all pretty packed in this little two bedroom house (not to mention two of the occupants were a sick toddler and a colicky infant). Fun! Good news: a lot of wine was consumed.

Then came Thursday. My first day all alone with Mila and Phoenix. I almost had a nervous breakdown. I didn't. And we lived (at some points just barely, but still). Mila threw a tantrum over her stuffed bunny not fitting properly in a box she'd pulled out of the garage and Phoenix, who finally fell asleep after an hour and a half of wailing started...well wailing. And the dog was howling and there was a little voice in my head that was screaming hysterically, but there was another quieter voice that said: "You can still do this. Millions of other moms are doing this, so can you. And while you're at it, pour another cup of black tea, will you?" ;)

Looking forward to the weekend...we're doing family photos tomorrow...should be...well, interesting! See you all on Monday! xo

P.S. Happy one month Mr. Phoenix!

I am seriously so intrigued by Joanna's Parenting Around the World series. Here's the latest installment.

These boots are on my fall wishlist.

I'm currently reading this book. Literally one page at a time, but it's really good!

Manolo Blahnik is allergic to wine! (But we love his shoes)!

How to eat like a man

My next vacation might have to be here.

25 kids too trendy for their own good. Ha!

If Disney Princesses had instagram. Totally laughed out loud.

So hard when your mom leaves right?! They are so helpful...especially with the kids. It sounds like a hard transition, but like you say wine is very helpful. Love those booties! I bought those or some similar ones last fall and I adore them...used them like every day! get 'em

I can't imagine having 2 kids alone with one being an infant. Although I used to do it when I was 13 and babysitting, that was only like 2 hours though so not even close to what you have to do. My mom did it with 4 kids, madness! Ha ha

Thank you for finding all the necessary links I need on a weekly basis! LOVED that Northern Ireland parenting post -- especially the part about the low-pro bday parties, YES! And will have to read that book...and totally laughed at Princess Instagram. BTW, if we lived closer we could share those boots!
