Guest Post: Michaela From Michaela Noelle Designs

7/23/2013

For the next few weeks I'll be taking some time off to hang with baby boy, luckily I'm leaving you all in the very capable hands of Kirby, but I've also rounded up a few of my very favorite bloggers to step in while I'm away and give Kirby a little break. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

We kick things off with a very special guest post. Michaela, my co-worker at Lulu & Georgia is here, sharing photos of her beautiful bedroom. Psst...she's the one who took these amazing maternity photos, and these ones. Oh and her L.A. studio was recently featured in Rue. Gorgeous! I'm honored to have her here, she's not just a co-worker, but a sweet friend. Thanks Michaela for coming by and don't forget to say hi to her at Michaela Noelle Designs.

Hi friends and readers of Short & Sweet! I'm Michaela-- a fellow lover of the pretty, interior design, fashion, tasty recipes and beautiful occasions. I have the pleasure of working with Alexa at Lulu & Georgia, and my oh my am I ever excited for her new baby to arrive! As a recent college graduate with my Bachelor's degree in interior design, it's my passion to help people create homes the genuinely love.  Today I'm here sharing my favorite space with you, as well as a few decorating tips.

Last summer I redid my bedroom in a light mint/seafoam color, with accents of white, peach and hot pink. It's fresh, feminine, and has a touch of shabby chic; just my style. I was on a tight budget, so I did a few things to keep my wallet in check.

1. I created the abstract art myself by getting creative {and a little messy} with some pretty hues of pink and mint.
2. Instead of sewing the curtain panels entirely out of the beautiful patterned fabric you see at the bottom of the panel, I saved money by only using 18" of this fabric, paired with an inexpensive, simple cotton drape from West Elm.
3. I found that white dresser at Goodwill for $70 and redid it so it fit with my style {and budget!}

That girl up there is my adorable pup, Hope. Sometimes we like to read House Beautiful together. She's a good little assistant!

Hopefully these tips will help you when you design the next room in your home.  For my whole room source list, you can visit this post here.  What is your favorite spot in your home?

Thanks Alexa and Kirby for having me today!
xoxo

Love the idea of using plain white drapes and adding fabric to the bottom! Very cute!
