Inspired By...The Boy.

5/15/2013

You guys. Sorry I missed yesterday's post. Life around here is well...hectic. And Baby Boy isn't even here yet! Yikes!

I'm in major nesting mode. Which is funny because I never really went through it before Mila was born. I mean I kind of did, but also wasn't sure what to expect with a baby rooming with us. Now I know the impossibility of getting things done in a timely fashion (what is that)?

The thing is, I've been working on updating Mila's room for what seems like two years (that's probably about right), since I never quite finished it before she came. It's almost done. I'm waiting for a dresser. But the sad part for Baby Boy is, he doesn't really have a room. He gets to share our room for a while (major adjustment to sleeping in a room with a baby again), and then he'll get to room with his big sister in her majorly girl-ifed space. We only have to bedrooms. Matt and are inching our way slowly into the housing market (meaning we are staring at houses we can't afford, lamenting, and drinking more wine or eating ice cream, as in my case).

All of this is totally okay. We like where we are now, it's not permanent, but we've made it our own. The only downside is the lack of bedrooms, which really isn't a big deal anyway, but I think that's why I've been so keen to fix up Mila's space, since I don't have a nursery to decorate.

Regardless, do not fear for Baby Boy. I have my eye on a few decor elements that can help make our space and Mila's space feel a little more like his!

Love the color palette. I have started decorating my twins room so many times but it always ends up falling to the bottom of my list especially when I realize it ends up a total mess at the end of everyday - and the fact they end up in my bed every night ;) And just this morning I was looking at houses I can't afford and daydreaming. . . sigh.

The bow ties! I'm excited to go to my friend's wedding this summer for multiple reasons, but one of them is so I can dress Charlie up. I'm thinking suspenders and a bow tie and a fedora hat. Ha! Little boy dress up clothes are the cutest!

Loving ALL of this!! I have a girlfriend who's kids split a space and she's done a great job of making it work for both genders. And she says they LOVE sleeping in the same room together. It will all work out!!

Don't worry about the two bedroom thing, it's actually great when they are this little - they'll be that much closer for it, and it makes bedtime routine easier in the long run. And no doubt you'll find wonderful way to boy-ify the room :) xx

Cute picks! Our apartment is so tiny and there's so little storage that my closet is in Matthew's bedroom! We just do what we can right? ;)

I love these picks, Alexa :) That dinosaur & black hole event is so adorable... and that little fox!!! Too cute! On the upside, the best part of not having a separate bedroom for baby boy is that he will never even know ;) XO Brynn

I'm sure it will turn out really cute, you have such fun and wonderful taste! I love how you've just embraced the loose timetable, I wish I could do the same, because I am the world's slowest decorator, haha.
