I promised to share photos from our trip to Australia and thought I'd share them in three parts: Byron Bay, Sydney and Manly.
We spent the first three days of our trip in Byron Bay, where we rented a little beach hut and met up with dear friends, who were visiting Byron from where they live in Perth and Sydney, respectively. Although it was sporadically stormy, we still managed to spend some time at the beach and Ian was able to use the surf board he lovingly packed and carried on our 17+ hour journey. We spent the rest of our time wandering the streets of Byron and drinking flat whites (the Aussie version of a latte).
Here's a mini guide of places to eat/drink in Byron:
St. Elmo (Tapas and Sangria. The cute place pictured above next to me downing my
The Balcony (The best paella I've ever had. Sit on the patio.)
Beach Hotel (Drinks with a view in the center of Byron. We wound up here almost every night.)
Miss Margarita (We didn't make it here but a friend recommended it, and who doesn't like margaritas?)
Belongil Bistro (Located down the road from our beach hut, we came for coffee and breakfast but the dinner menu - written on the chalkboard walls - looked good and moderately priced for Australia, which is pricey my friends.)
Bay Kebabs (Kebab shops to Australia are what taco shops are to California. Cheap and good after one too many cocktails.)
Belongil Beach Cafe (The little airstream pictured above. Pretty cool right?)
Cheeky Monkey's (Total backpacker bar. We went to get a drink and people watch - and were the oldest people there by far!)
