Work It Mama.

10/17/2012

Here's the dealio you guys. I use workout videos. Yep, that's right. Total cheesy, not quite Richard Simmons, but potentially could be, workout videos with girls in leg warmers. The more eighties the better (kidding...sort of). Ever since Mila has been born, I've been struggling with my workout routine (or lack thereof). We usually take the dog on walks a few times a week, but I felt that I was missing that out-of-breath-abs sore-sweaty type of workout that makes the bowl of ice cream later that night feel justified. In steps Keli Roberts and her 10 Minute Kickbox Bootcamp DVD. Amazing. While Mila naps, I pop in the video and whip out a 20 minute workout. Not quite the hour I was getting before, but hey, adjustments people. Then I have the rest of the time to take a quick shower, get some work done, prep dinner, clean the house....HA. And you thought I actually did that other stuff. I'm curious other moms, have you found a way to get exercise in? Any other good tips? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Giveaway going on here!

Love this post - and great timing! I had my daughter 7 weeks ago, and have been feeling the same way you do - missing those workouts! I just bought the Tracey Anderson post-pregnancy DVD (and posted about it too). Yesterday was my first day with it, and it was intense and difficult, but I am so looking forward to each day getting easier! Tracy gained 60 lbs with her first baby, and if she can bounce back, we all can! ;) I love her workouts and am going to buy the cardio DVD as well - but would love to hear an update in the future about your DVD. It's just so much more convenient than hitting the gym these days, right?!

I just bought the 30 day shred but have been afraid to try it out! Haha! I think 20-30 minutes are WAY better than no minutes! ;)

I totally do work out videos, too!!! My neighbors probably think I am nuts! I am not a momma, but I do not have a lot of time in my day with my commute, work hours, blogging...and, well, life ;) I would totally recommend Tracey Anderson's Mat Workout - INCREDIBLE results! I did this in combo with her Beginner's Dance Cardio before my wedding (and still do, though my routine has decreased by a few days) and I just love it! XO Brynn

Hahaha! I do this video too (or I should say did, I haven't been so good at sneaking it in lately)!

Another good one that I found on Netflix (of course it's not there anymore) is the 10 Minute Solution Yoga. Same principle, but is a nice change of pace sometimes!

Ugg, I'm not a mom, but I struggle getting my exercise in. This video sounds great; I should check it out. :)

I've been wanting to do some workout DVDs, but I'm not sure my downstairs neighbors will appreciate it! But meh, they don't matter ;)

Not cheesy at all, they're definitely making a comeback and there are so many good ones out there. I loved my 20 minute shred until it got all scratched up :(

I do work out videos at home too -- I seriously have no time to go to the gym and I don't drive so it becomes even more of a production and I'm not keen on the idea of going there after work at 5 pm and not getting home until 7 pm. At least with a work video I can be home by 5:30 and get in 20-30 minutes of exercise 4-5 days a week and be all finished by 6 pm.

i love workout videos and sites! not a mom but sometimes it's hard to get an hour workout with before or after work. Check out http://www.bodyrock.tv/ the people are a little scary thin but they will make you feel so fit after.

You look as good as you do from 20 min a day of a workout video?! Sheesh. I feel extra sloth-y ;)

nothing wrong with work out videos, i think the cheesier and deeper into the 80s it is the better except for that Simmons guy
