Dinner Al Fresco (Almost)
Posted by Alexa6/18/2012
On Friday I baked a lopsided pizza. It had Gruyere, prosciutto and fresh peaches. I took it outside with two glasses of Riesling and two over-sized pillows and beckoned Matt to join me. It's June for goodness sake...warm weather means outside eating in my book. Not so, says San Diego's June Gloom. For those unaware, the summer months of June and July are often the greyest and foggiest in La Jolla. I like to call it the San Francisco effect. Sadly, we ended up taking our meal inside, but I snapped this pictures before, so you'd have an idea of how Matt and I almost spent our Friday evening. :)

I am getting fed up of the weather over here in the UK- it's been raining non stop for weeks now! I would love a bit of sunshine!
awww that's sad - but your meal still looks amazing!!! I always try to convince my husband that we should eat dinner outside but he's always so hot in this TX heat.
Holy Moly! That looks amaaazing!! And it's so funny about So Cal weather in June...my dad lives in Huntington Beach and said it was cold and overcast yesterday! Meanwhile it's in the 90's here! Eek!
That's gorgeous, even if you didn't make it outside the whole time. :)
That pizza looks amazing!!! Hmmm...June gloom sounds very familiar...only one might call it all year round except for August gloom here ;) Well, regardless of where you ate it, I am sure the meal was fabulous! XO brynn

sounds so lovely! and that pizza looks amazing. i love alfresco dining - even if it gets cut short by the weather. im kinda glad you guys are currently experiencing the san francisco effect because over here in wales - it is constantly gloomy! this means that i don't have to be that jealous of you!
lovely! You should send the rain our way...we soooo need it :)
I have yet to dine al fresco... I need to get on that. The pizza looks amazing. I don't know why I never thought of putting peaches on my pizza before. xo
I love that you call it the San Francisco effect. We're having our own gloomy day up here. This is probably the only time of year I miss living in Davis.
Yes... June gloom is in Full swing! I just wish that June gloom would arrive in Fall and Winter instead, don't you?! I like for seasons to be "appropriate" haha. This pizza looks amazzzzing though. I would have definitely joined you outside for this - grey skies or not! :)

yum! sounds amazing, inside or out! and really, i'm mostly jealous of the wine. ;)
YUM!! What a fabulous idea!!!
I love the effort. Maybe if we WILL it hard enough, the gray will go away? :)
This sounds absolutely heavenly–damn that June gloom!
Nothing like homemade pizza! We had dinner al fresco on Saturday night ;)
Wow, it looks amazing! Shame about the weather. Aren't homemade pizzas are the best kind? xx
Ha, we have the June gloom too, and yet I love the cool air, it will be hot all too soon. Your pizza look so yummy!

Al fresco dining is one of the greatest pleasures of summer. Only these days we have to wait until late into the evening to join it as the heat wave we're having makes the most part of the day unbearable. xo

This just totally made me hungry!!!
My favorite thing about summer is eating outside. I'm sorry the weather didn't cooperate this time!
Too bad you couldn't stay outside. It looks so lovely. Nothing wrong with sitting on the floor in the living room next to a large window. ;)
