Camp Recap

Daddy and Daughter venturing into the wild

Happy Monday sweet readers! Where in the world did the weekend go? It flew by! As promised I will share a few tidbits from our camping excursion last weekend with our friends Courtney and Eric and their 22-month-old son, Skye.

1. This was my second time really camping. Like tent camping. Like dirt and bugs and six hours of prep type camping.

2. This was my first time camping with a 15-month-old. Who had a bad cough and who underwent a pretty large meltdown around dinner time.

3. Despite the one big meltdown, Mila was pretty adaptable. She slept 12 hours straight. In our tent. In the cold. With a cough. In hindsight I thought we may have been bad parents. But then I recalled this post from Joanna and I felt a little better.

4. Mila may have slept wonderfully, but I am a terrible tent sleeper.

5. Matt knows how to whip up a pretty awesome pasta primavera for dinner. Eric knows how to whip up some scrumptious pancakes and bacon for breakfast. This is my kind of camp food!

6. It was a lot of work packing and unpacking and making sure Mila's needs were met, but the thing I love most about camping is sitting around the campfire with several beers, a bottle of wine and hours of conversation with three of my favorite people. I'd totally do it again!

P.S. Did you see Kirby's s'mores post? It was the one thing we missed. Next time!

That's so sweet! Well I'm glad you guys had a great time! Camping is such a fun adventure, but it always provides those twists and turns. Your food sounds delicious!! Doesn't food like that always taste better when you're camping? It's like you're so tired that anything tastes good!

Reading this post brought me back to my days of being a camper at Camp Walden for girls in Denmark, Maine. Each age group made different trips throughout the summer, the hiking and canoeing trips were the absolute best. Setting up fire, figuring out how to set up the tents, eating marshmallows over an open fire and telling ghost stories, oh the memories. I'm thinking a camping trip is long over due!

I'm a very girly girl, but do love going camping, "tent camping," ... sometimes, haha. Just bring loads of allergy medicine and I'm fine. Sounds like you had fun and it's always nice when there's great company. -xo Happy Monday.

Sweet picture! Hehehe, I don't know how Little A. would fare camping yet - I know my husband would love to give it a try though...we'll see! But it might all be worth it for pancakes around the fire! xo

I still am impressed you took Mila on your second only ever camping trip. You rock.

I cannot believe you didn't do s'mores! It's not a camping trip with out s'mores!

We were talking this weekend on our camping adventure about how we have to camp with the Evans and Miss Mila, the girls would love it!
