The Rush

5/15/2012

When I tell people I work out most days, they look at me like I'm crazy. But the truth is, other than my commute, it's one of the only moments of my day that I have to myself. With that said, I get bored easily and have to vary my workouts. I know most people are intimidated by spinning, but I promise it is one of my favorite workouts and the adrenaline rush is worth an hour of hard work. Plus, they always play good music!
Not long after we moved further north, a new indoor cycling studio popped up in our old neighborhood, Bird Rock in La Jolla. Opened by two ambitious twenty-somethings, The Rush is a boutique indoor cycling studio and I can't wait to try a class one weekend.  Check out their class schedule if you live in the area and learn more about The Rush Indoor Cycling Studio here.

This looks like so much fun, Kirby! I am the same way- I have to have something interesting to keep me motivated. I really like Zumba, but Rush sounds fun! I am always in if it has good music that gets me pumped up.

I have never taken a spin class but I have girlfriends that LOVE it. The Rush looks really cool! I have finally gotten myself back in work out mode. I'm doing Insanity...such a beating!!

I think I could get into spinning. I took a class once, and they turned all the lights out, blasted the music, and we just went to work. It was fun! ps. your gym looks so inviting!

That's great that you work out on most days. Once I am settled back at home, one of the first few things I plan on doing is joining a gym. It's tough to spice up the routine but once you find something you adore like spinning, it's quite gratifying.

Love the layout of your blog, by the way - love the colors.

Hey guys, just wanted to say thanks for showing the love.

@molliee - get your butt out of your routine and come take a class, I promise it won't feel like a boring work out.

@Neda - Music is definitely the key to a successful Spin Experience and trust me when I say our instructors spend hours compiling their playlist to make sure you stay going for the whole class.

@Leslie - If a 65 yr old woman can do it, you can do it haha. But seriously you are in charge of your own bike at all times which means you control your workout, the instructor and class is just there to motivate you. After just two rides I swear you will be a pro.

Thanks for the write up in your blog! I teach at the RUSH at 5:45 a.m. and it's the best hour of the day. I'd be happy to help any first timers and guarentee it's an amazing work out!

Oh I love spinning! I don't go nearly as often as I should, but I always feel better after I do!

i agree kirby- it is so nice to have some time for yourself. I spin most days after work- this week i'm decidedly going Mon-Fri- and I love it. And when you first start out and aren't used to the tempo, it's still manageable bc you set your own gears. I know you know this, just saying :)
