Hi sweet readers. Dee and I did a little blog swap about summer-ifying (yep a new word) your home (both inside and outside). Dee has outlined some wonderfully colorful items that will make your inside space seem light and bright...can we talk about that awesome yellow toaster? I'm over at her blog chatting it up about ways to vamp up your porches and patios!
Hello everyone! This is Dee from Strings and Buttons. I'm ecstatic that I'm here at The Short & Sweet of It for a great set of seasonal How-To's that Alexa and I put together for you. It's summer and we're all busy scrambling to get our sandals and dresses in order. But what about our own homes? In the past few years, I've become more diligent about giving my apartment a small facelift during this season to brighten things up and welcome the summer into my space. Your eyes will thank you for it and so will your guests. The process is easy and should not break the bank.

1- Pillows, pillows, pillows: They're inexpensive, widely available and can instantaneously brighten up your space. I love citrus motifs and pillows that embody the outdoors.
2- Your serving tray needs some spicing up pronto. I'm guilty of somehow always ending up with something brown and unoriginal. Go for a tray that looks like a piece of art in itself, like this one. That way, you don't mind if it's still on the table after drinks have been served.
3- Do you like having vases in your bedroom? I sure do. I love the scent and sight of flowers when I first wake up. Go for something unique like this outline vase!
4- Your kitchen wall art can be changed easily to reflect the new season. I like the idea of framing tiles especially if your wall is bare. For affordable, brilliant ideas, Etsy is the place to go.
5- Just add yellow. Isn't it amazing how yellow instantly acts like an uplifting force? I love seeing it on appliances especially!
6- Using pops of color and different patterns is the surest way to summer-ize your space. I am dying over this beautiful Moroccan tea set and these boldly-colored fruit bowls. And the patterns on these bamboo plates are instant attention-grabers!
Alexa, thank you so much for having me here! Do come by to my blog to see her post on how you can similarly welcome summer into your backyard, patio or garden!
