Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

1/24/2012

Did you read Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close? The movie comes out soon and Kristine and I want to see it at the fancy new movie theater near us. Tickets are pricey, but it's assigned seating in what are basically like La-Z Boys and waiters come around serving things like cheese plates, sushi, wine and beer. We only see movies in the theater every few months so it's totally worth the higher price tag!

I just read it over the Christmas break and loved it! I wrote a blog post about it here: http://ajigreer.blogspot.com/2011/12/extremely-loud-and-incredibly-close-by.html. Don't worry; there are no spoilers! :)

I can't wait to see the movie, and it doesn't hurt that I'm a huge Tom Hanks fan!

That looks incredible. I am dying to read this book now! Thanks for sharing! I would definately pay a higher price tag for sushi and wine. heck yes.

This is on my list. I watched the trailer a little while back and it has been on my mind ever since. I can't decide if I should try to read the book first (usually my "rule")...

I liked the book....loved the new movie theater!

I loved the book so much that I think I want to avoid the movie... The way Safran Foer wrote that book just can't be translated to a movie in my opinion. But I'll probably end up folding and seeing it anyway knowing me!

That sounds soooo fun!!! I wish we had a theater like that near me. That book was so amazing, but I agree with Sal above me - the book was an art in itself, I'm not sure how they could ever translate it to as good of a movie, but I hope I am wrong for your sake!

heather - definitely read the book first (my 2 cents!)

I can't wait to see the movie although it's rare I ever like a movie adaptation better than the book. They just opened a Cinopolis by me and I have a hard time going to a regular old movie theater now. We drank champagne and ate sushi while watching The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Gosh I must have been living under a rock as I haven't heard about this movie, but I love Tom Hanks so I definitely need to see it! I wish we had a theatre like that near us, it sounds like such a fun concept! xx

I read the book, and saw the movie!!! Both are amazing!!! It's been years that I read the book so that was good...it wasn't as fresh so I didn't really compare and was surprised on how much I remembered...needless to say...I was a very happy girl leaving the theater. :D
