Vintage 2011

10/19/2011

I'm pretty sure the Trotta's have always made wine (anyway we've always drank it), but one of our biggest traditions is the "birth wine," which has been discussed here, if you want the back story. 2011 is Mila's vintage, so we had to christen the grapes with baby feet in order to make it official. Many, many years down the road we will toast Mila and her new husband on their wedding day with this wine and in all likelihood it will not be the best wine ever tasted...nor the 50th best wine ever tasted. But, it is all hers (as evidenced by stinky feet and tears).

Photos by me.

Oh my gosh, this is so sweet I just want to cry when I read it--that she will have it for her wedding, it's just so genius {even if she shed a few tears in the making}!

That sounds like a super amazing and fun tradition! The wineries are looking super gorgeous this time of year [I was just in the Paso Robles area where I grew up]!

I might burst into tears-my dad bought two cases of futures Chateau Margaux from my birth year, and my parents have always planned to serve the wine at my wedding! I'm so glad there's another family that does this!

I love that this tradition is being passed on. Especially one that involves making wine, even if it isn't the 50th best wine!
