Domestic.

9/29/2011

As a new mom sometimes I feel like I have boarded the crazy train and cannot get off. Like yesterday when Mila decided that napping was for {other} babies and clocked a half-hour in the morning and a half-hour in the afternoon. This resulted in an hour total of recharging the mommy batteries. I'm sorry to say folks but the mommy is not the energizer bunny. It's amazing how exhausted I get watching Mila all day as opposed to actually working in an office.

P.S. Do you often wonder how women did it in the 1950s? Take the above woman. Who wants to bet that this is just an average day? Hair done, apron ironed, ham in the oven, cake baked. Who is this woman? And can she come to my house?

I have no idea how they did it, I'm guessing they spiked their coffee :)

I know crazy! I can keep up the house, tend to the baby, get stuff done. But something always suffers and it's usually my hair or no shower or not eating lol.

I'm pretty sure she's a figment of the imagination! :) Or she had full-time help. Totally agree that watching kids is like 10x more tiring than working!!

I know Stephanie, that's the only thing I can think. And babies are exhausting!

This is such a great post! I see all those " what I wore wed." and I read them as I am still sitting in my pajamas...some days I am just lucky I brushed my teeth...lol. How old is your daughter? When both my kids started talking short morning naps...I took it away and gave them one realllllyyyy long afternoon nap ( 2 + hours )

f that, its a known fact that those women were all pill popping alcoholics! ha!
and i agree with theolivetree, once the naps get short you can squish them together for a longer nap. but since mila is so young, my guess is that it was just a fluke (praying for you anyway, you don't want her growing out of naps young like jessica did....)

So apt and so true! Motherhood is exhausting but all so worth it. I feel like supermom the days I actually can get ready, make dinner, and have a semi-clean home!

Getting your hair set, cocktails and a playpen is how they did it...If only...

Motherhood is not easy especially if the child is less than 2 years old. Whoever said that being mother is easy is either not a mother yet, a guy or someone who had 24 hours help from others.

Just hang in there. Things will get easier gradually, just keep that in mind. :)

Have a great day!
