Things That Make Me Smile

8/29/2011

Everything on top of my dresser makes me smile.
My Anthropologie measuring cups, which I thought would look prettier as a display for my jewelry.
Some of my current favorite goodies. A red jeweled bracelet, a snake pendant from Bali, a green pendant from Mexico, a Chinese pendant, a gold bracelet from Capricorn Boutique and two very special things: a gold pendant from Bali that was my Oma's, and a heart-shaped locket that was my Grandma's. The latter one I wore on my wedding dress. Since she could not be with me that day, a little part of her was.

What are some of your favorite things and where do you keep them, in a drawer or on display?

P.S. I love the details on my dresser. It used to belong to my Great Grandma.

That detail on your dresser, top left, is beautiful. Some of my favourite things: my jewelry. I don't own too many pieces (mostly because I don't like wearing much besides my watch and wedding ring), but the ones I own are very dear to me because they all have a story, a memory behind them.

I love how you've made it such a personal space, that's really great! And using the Anthro measuring cups as jewelry containers is a genius idea.

Absolutely love this! My closet is full of things that make me smile, and while some are on display, I love finding them tucked into little corners, too!

"Everything on top of my dresser makes me smile." I read this and it really stopped me in my tracks. Because I think that's how it should be, and yet, I tend to just throw stuff on there until it finds a better home, and it all collects dust, I don't even see the stuff there. Not to make it seem like I'm the messiest person in the world, but this post really made me stop and think that I should be more thoughtful and purposeful about what I see every day. Thanks for the gently slap in the face!

I love it when people keep and used furniture from relatives and loved ones. Plus, it's just so chic right now!
